Axelrod Contradicts Obama on Superdelegates

Mon Feb 11, 2008 at 03:01:02 PM PDT

Barack Obama said the other day that Democratic party superdelegates should throw their support to him if he wins the most states and pledged delegates.

"My strong belief is that if we end up with the most states and the most pledged delegates from the most voters in the country," Obama said, "that it would be problematic for the political insiders to overturn the judgment of the voters.

Obama said superdelegates "would have to think long and hard about how they approach the nomination when the people they claim to represent have said, 'Obama's our guy.' "

Shuster & Clinton Camp's Heated Emails

Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 11:00:31 PM PDT

From Politico:

Before MSNBC's David Shuster was suspended by the network Friday for on-air comments he made about Chelsea Clinton, the television reporter engaged in a heated correspondence with a spokesman for Hillary Clinton in which he defended his appearance and refused demands to apologize.

A copy of the e-mail exchange between Shuster and Philippe Reines, a longtime Clinton aide, was obtained by Politico and is reprinted here.

Diarist's Note: While not entirely comfortable posting the contents of anyone's private correspondence, it has already been made public by Politico(who says only that the emails were obtained, without denoting from whom).

That said, the contents of the emails are already out there.

So, what say you?

Clintons vs. MSNBC & Shuster's Disgusting Remarks. Shuster Suspended.

Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 11:07:50 AM PDT

VIA TPM
The Hillary campaign has just gone to war with MSNBC, dispatching a top Hillary adviser to launch a lacerating attack on the network on a conference call with reporters moments ago.
On the call, top Hillary adviser Howard Wolfson suggested that there's a "pattern" of reprehensible comments by MSNBC personalities, and said outright that the Hillary campaign could no longer "envision a scenario where we would debate on that network given the comments that were made and have been made."
Wolfson made the comments in response to a question about a now-notorious comment by MSNBC's David Shustser, in which he asked if Chelsea's campaigning on her mom's behalf meant she was being "pimped" by the Hillary campaign...

What? No Diary on NY Times Front Pg Obama Story?

Sat Feb 02, 2008 at 10:03:23 PM PDT

There is now. Hard to believe no one here saw this and thought it worthy of discussion.

Apparently, according to a front page story in Sunday's New York Times, Mr. Change, Mr. "I'll fight the special interests", on one of the few pieces of legislation he's introduced, buckled to industry pressure despite his constituents going crazy because radioactive runoff was turning up in groundwater.

"Senator Obama’s staff was sending us copies of the bill to review, and we could see it weakening with each successive draft," said Joe Cosgrove, a park district director in Will County, Ill., where low-level radioactive runoff had turned up in groundwater. "The teeth were just taken out of it."

Obama Snubs Hillary: A Pic's Worth 1,000 Words (Balt.Sun Account)

Mon Jan 28, 2008 at 08:17:18 PM PDT

Photo from the Associated Press prior to tonight's State of the Union.

Barack Obama apparently can't find the decency to say hello.
Note it is the Associated Press describing how Obama turns away.

"Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., greets Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., back to camera, as fellow hopeful, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. turns away before President Bush's the State of the Union address ..."

Sat Jan 26, 2008 at 01:20:28 PM PDT

From Gallup:
Among Democrats, little change on the eve of Saturday's South Carolina primary. Hillary Clinton maintains a significant lead over Barack Obama at the national level. Despite some discussion of polling showing John Edwards gaining in South Carolina, among Democrats nationally, Edwards remains in deep third place, 21 points behind Obama and 36 points behind Clinton.

WAPO Misquotes Hillary

Tue Jan 22, 2008 at 07:04:07 AM PDT

From the Washington Post recap of the debate last night;

Clinton quickly retaliated: "I was fighting against those [Republican] ideas when you were practicing law and representing your contributor . . . in his slum landlord business in inner-city Chicago."

What Hillary actually she said was, "I was fighting against those (Republican)ideas when you were practicing law and representing your contributor... Rezko... in his slumlord business in inner-city Chicago."

Chris Matthews Trying to Save His Job

Thu Jan 17, 2008 at 02:08:43 PM PDT

The Vast Right Wing Conspirator begins Hardball with a pathetic & long-winded read, trying to excuse his Hillary-bashing.

"I have a good heart" is his defense for comparing her to "a stripper" etc, etc, etc - 15 years and 15 miles of etceteras - all designed to bash the left in general and the Clintons in particular, and all as Matthews continuously & cutely pushes the Bushes, DeLays, Guilianis, McCains and so many more of the totally undeserving (John Boehner, "You can see the greatness of this man").

And all to the detriment of the working people of these United States.

I'll update this with a as much of his opening statement as I can transcribe.
(Of Note: As he does day in, day out, on both of his NBC shows, Matthews first segment is yet another re-hash of Bob Johnson's comments on Barack Obama, designed to fill the airwaves with as much negativity as is possible about the Clintons. Segment 2: McCain, McCain, McCain.

Ever wonder what it sounds like, the Great & Vast Right Wing Conspiracy?

This is it.

Is anybody watching this?

LA Times: Obama -16 Pts. Losing Ground among Indys

Mon Jan 14, 2008 at 10:12:06 PM PDT

New poll from the LA Times.

As things stand now, Clinton leads Obama 47 to 31% among voters judged likely to cast ballots in California. A third candidate, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, was a distant third with 10%.

Hillary's "Commanding" Lead in NJ

Sun Jan 13, 2008 at 12:16:56 PM PDT

New Yorkers Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani remain the top choices for president in New Jersey, and most voters do not expect to change their minds before the Feb. 5 primary, a poll by The Record found.

Coverage of Clinton's "Remark"; Total Crap

Sat Jan 12, 2008 at 08:19:33 PM PDT

When are you people going to learn what the old VRWC looks like in action?

The media, almost enmasse, immediately moved to mitigate any bump for Hillary coming out of New Hampshire;

Chris Matthews was out the very next morning making sure he whipped out the old Monica card, saying Hillary only got elected because her husband fooled around.

What do you think that was about?

Hillary. By 13.

Fri Jan 11, 2008 at 02:52:43 PM PDT

I haven't had the chance to read every diary since New Hampshire with "Hillary" in the by-line.

Has Kos found it in his heart to tap out one kind word about Hillary since?

From CNN:

Hillary Ticks UP after debate

Fri Nov 02, 2007 at 10:33:16 PM PDT

Hill's up 45% to 18% over Obama since debate; numbers had been 40% to 24%.

I'd suggest what those numbers don't include is the result of having the echo chamber filled with nothing but "Hillary Trips" stories for the last few days, and of course it will be the subject of much discussion on the Sunday circuit.

Which is kind of the whole point of the Russert-Matthews / VRWC approach, for those that've been living on the moon these past 15 years.

Shortest diary ever, at least until I can catch re-run of Markos on Real Time.

Hope he was nice....

Stunning Stat & New Hillary Video

Sat Aug 04, 2007 at 01:08:57 AM PDT

Today I heard one of the sharpest statistical comparisons in what is essentially the over-arching argument of "trickle-down economics" versus an "invest & grow" strategy. Check this out ....

SickoMovie.com Re-Directs To..

Thu May 17, 2007 at 10:15:21 PM PDT

Odd isn't it that what would be the likeliest domain name for Michael Moore's new flick, http://www.Sickomovie.com magically directs you to... - of all places! - BillOReilly.com?!?!

(Where coincidentally, you can get yourself a swanky new "Keep it Pithy" Polo for just $19.95!!!)

Perhaps not a true dairy entry (I know there are many here that steadfastly guard the rules for posting dairy entries, so apologies in advance), but noteworthy I thought, because with the film's Cannes premiere coming up, there is sure to be related news in the next few days.

All in all, just another incredibly lame effort by the right.
Or is it just an accident or coincidence? You tell me...

If Ever There Was A Time...

Thu Apr 12, 2007 at 02:21:58 AM PDT

to go after the advertisers supporting the right wing media monsters and shut them down, it's now, while the issue of Imus and the airwaves remains on the front burner.

Very short diary entry here. I just surprised there wasn't a similar visible thread on the main page.
This is about accountability on America's airwaves.

Heaven knows, there's no shortage of Rush, Hannity etc garbage to quote from, a portion of which can be found here
http://www.mediamatters.org.
These are the people that started it ("it" being hate-speech, divisiveness, misinformation, etc) perpetuate it, thrive off it, and can't survive without it.

Will there be a better opportunity?
